Retro emerald ruby and sapphire platinum and 14k gold Phoenix bird clip brooch circa 1935. *
This early Retro brooch is a rare and resplendent creature of fantasy. We love the color play between the rubies and sapphires in the splendid wings, fully extended as if it were flying. The overall virtuosity of the design commands attention and with effortless ease holds onto it. The jewel was made with fine workmanship, note the photo of the back side, enlarged to illustrate the delicate work in the setting of the stones which have been exquisitely matched for color.
SPECIFICATIONS:
GEMSTONES: one of each oval cabochon emerald and ruby, round rubies, and calibrated sapphires together weighing approximately 16.00 carats.
METAL: 14-karat gold and platinum.
WEIGHT: 39.6 grams.
MEASUREMENTS: approximately 2 ¾” (6.90 cm) long and 3-1/8” (7.90 cm) wide overall.
CONDITION: high magnification photographs show considerable design details, and that is brooch is in good condition, all consistent with age and wear.
