Elgin 1940's US ARMY Military WWII A-8 Watch Timer Jitterbug Movement with box
Elgin 1940's US ARMY Military WWII A-8 Watch Timer Jitterbug Movement XLT COND. With original box and pouch, detail on back of the case still shows well, it's working strong with no issues. Grade 582, Model 21, 15j, Circa 1943, 16s. Great for collectors especially with original box and pouch. Back of the snaps perfectly but outer backing doesn't close properly needs an adjustment.
This listing is for one of the most fascinating timepieces ever produced by Elgin, or any other watchmaker for that matter. Known as the "Bomber's timer," this Type A-8 stop watch was made for US Air crews during WWII to assist in navigation and other tasks, such as measuring speed at high altitude (using landmarks below).
The watch is equipped with the "Jitterbug" high beat movement that beats at an amazing 108,000 bph making this a true foudroyante dial that goes round in just 10 seconds. We are jewelers all of our items are professionally inspected and tested, we guarantee all of our items to be as described.
